The Cougars fell to the Terra Nova Tigers Friday night, 31 to 21. HMB made a shot at the win late in the forth quarter, down 21-24, but the defense couldn't hold the Tigers back. Turnovers and tackling were once again our downfall, but the heart was there until the final whistle. After a tough loss itâ s hard to get perspective on the season as a whole. However, it was a remarkable season and our boys should be very proud, as we all are of them. We finished the year 7 â 3 and made a good run at the league Championship and playoffs. Our seniors worked hard all year and lead their team admirably. They set a high standard for our younger classmen to live up to next year; and our goals will be set very high next season.
There are many, many people to thank, (in no particular order, and please forgive if I leave someone out.) Our awesome Community Cougars who made this new tradition so special, our teachers/staff, the parents who supported their son's commitment, team moms (Bev France and company), Ron France, Connor and Bridget Meyer, Chuck Custer, Rob Gaskill our new superintendent, Mary Streshly our new principal, Jared Abbott, all the Chatfields (Teri made the snack shack run), Toby Larson, Cameron Palmer (home of the Cougars), our Pop Warner coaches and players, Coach McNevin, Coach Coolidge, Coach Murphy, the Bakers, Bob and Robbie Fernandez, the Ballard's and Voorhees', Megan Mclelland who puts up with me, our many donors, our past parents who stay Cougars forever, my Coaches who give so much, and lastly, my boys, who give everything!

For the first time ever the Cougar football team defeated the Burlingame Panthers Friday night; 26-10. The Cougars went into the half down 7 to 10, but came out determined in the second half and outscored the once Bay League team 19 to 0. A physical ground game on offense, and team tackling on defense made the difference.
Next Week...."The Skull Game" vs Terra Nova!! Our biggest game of the year will be at John Fraencis Field next Friday, 11/14: Frosh/Soph at 3pm and the Varsity at 6pm. The Tigers are a physical Bay League team that would like nothing more to stomp us at home. 0-9 or 9-0, what matters most...did you beat TN? Thank you Mr, Carey!
Next Weeks Community Cougar: We decided to add to this new tradition by inviting back all previous
nine Community Cougars on our last game vs TN. We'll need all your support and encouragement to beat the Tigers. For a list of Community Cougars, click here.

After a rough start Friday afternoon, the Cougars were able to bounce back from being 10 points down in the 1st quarter to beat the Capuchino Mustangs 41-22. We had some trouble dealing with their All County running back, but we're eventually able to slow him down and put some points on the board.
The Frosh/Soph battled through a close one Thursday and beat Cap 28-26.
Next Friday, November 7, 6pm at HMB Field, the Cougars will play the PAL crossover game vs Burlingame HS. We are both the second place teams in each of our sub division and will be playing for bragging rights for the public schools in the Ocean Division. To us, this is our Championship game, and we expect a very tough one. The Panthers are well coached and have put a beating on us the last few times we've played.
Thank you Gary Ballard for a great week and the well received donuts at Saturday morning films. He was very honored and proud to be our Community Cougar.
Week #9 Community Cougar: John Carey
Mr. Carey is an English Teacher and Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Half Moon Bay High School. Congratulations!

The Cougars were beaten by an explosive Sacred Heart Prep football team on Friday, 33 to 49. The defense didn't have an answer to a variety of offensive weapons the Gators had. As the defensive coordinator, I have to take responsibility for our poor play and must find a way iron out our weak points and try to get back on course. We take on a physical Capuchino team next week, on Halloween, Oct. 31, at Capuchino, 3pm. The Mustangs have the leading rusher in the county, which mean the Cougars will need to get tough and come out hard.
Thank you Mike Seaton for your support this week, and good luck to your Pop Warner team as they head into playoffs.
Week #8 Community Cougar: Gary Ballard
Gary has been doing the endzone filming for us this year. Gary, and his wife Jill, are not only lifetime Cougar supporters, but they also have had to put up with a very tense and pain in the butt son. I appreciate that the boys recognize this. Thank you.

The Varsity Football team had quite a Homecoming victory Friday night, defeating Jefferson High 55 to 8. The boys came out hard and showed that they were not overlooking Jefferson on their championship run.
Now the table is set for that Championship game, and the rights to the Ocean B division playoff spot. Next Friday at Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton, the Cougars play for the title at 3pm. SHP is undefeated and running through their new league. This will be the toughest challenge yet...well coached, talented team, away game, during the day. Character inventory time for the Cougars! PLEASE, do your best to make it to this game and support our boys!!! Our predominately freshmen Frosh/Soph team was overwhelmed by an undefeated Jefferson Frosh/Soph squad.
Thank you Mrs. Streshly for joining us last week! We hope your first HMBHS Homecoming was memorable.
Week # 7 Community Cougar: Mike Seaton.
You can tell the boys respect the Seaton family around here. Coach Seaton is a long time Pop Warner Coach, coaching the Midget team this year.
