Adam is currently on the Varsity football team and Heather was an H.M.B. cheerleader. Holly has also been active in our athletic fundraising programs. The football players and coaches would like to thank Holly for all she has done for our student athletes over the years.

Steve and Karen are involved in all facets of fundraising including snack bars, programs, Casino Night and the upcoming Black & Orange Ball. They are also responsible for organizing volunteers to set up and clean up for athletic events on campus as well as arranging rides for our athletes to get to away games. They are heavily involved in the Cougars Boosters program and have changed the way we organize and fund our athletic programs. They have also been responsible for HMBHS having a trainer at our events to ensure athletic safety for our athletes. A huge thank you goes out to the Baciches for all they do for our athletic programs. We are truly thankful to have such dedicated people involved in our school.

This weeks Community Cougar is an individual who exemplifies Half Moon Bay football. The football team is honoring Coach Matt Ballard as the Community Cougar for this weeks Sequoia game. Ballard is a Cougar alumni who also taught P.E. for several years here at Half Moon Bay. Coach Ballard was the Head Football Coach for the Cougars for the last 11 years leading the Cougars to the C.C.S. title in 2005. Congratulations to our Community Cougar, Silas Moore! Silas Moore has been called the "most celebrated football player in the history of Half Moon Bay High School." He was called to varsity action as a sophomore and responded by carrying the ball 103 times for 521 yards. This strong showing in his first of three varsity seasons earned him Second Team All-NPL. Silas' junior year became one of the most outstanding in Cougars' history when he carried 223 times for 1,192 yards. He led the county in scoring, was the second leading rusher in the county and was named NPL Co-Back of the Year. But his senior year was even more outstanding. Silas was like a man among boys; he was the NPL Player of the Year, First Team All-San Mateo County and the leading rusher in the county with 1,559 yards on 276 carries. Silas scored 53 touchdowns in his three-year varsity career. He is the standard of excellence for the Cougars Football program, and his number, 34, has been retired.
