2011 community cougars
In 2008, we are started a new Cougar Football tradition called the “Community Cougar”. Each game week our players will get together and choose a person (teacher, administrator, parent or anyone in the community) that has helped support them in some way; be it academically, athletically, emotionally, etc.
That week, the Community Cougar is invited to any practice/meeting/ “behind the scenes look” they would like to attend. They would be guest of honor at our team dinner Thursday night and then invited down to our sideline during the game. We'll also give them a long sleeve black shirt with "Community Cougar" on the back to wear at the games.
This is our way to recognize a few of the many people that support and encourage our kids.
Week 10: The Donovan Brothers, Travis and Sean
For the second year in a row the Donavan Brothers have donated to the Cougars and earned the Community Cougar spot. Being true Cougar fans, they always want the Skull Game. Let's hope they bring their special Cougar mojo from last year.
Week 9: The Seaton Family
What can we say about the Seaton Family and Cougar Football…they are synonymous. Audrey, team mom and matriarch, Big Dave, Big Mike, Uncle Steve, Brother Nick, Cousin Dave, Cousin Collette, Grandma Ida, current LB Coach Mike and current players Nate and Neal. From the awesome team meals from Audrey to the brothers running our chain gang, the Seatons are huge part of our program. We need that kind of passion and pride for the biggest game of the year. Thank you!
Week 8: Breen Hofmann
Breen is an HMBHS alumnus (1985), and a legendary football player and wrestler for the Cougars. He is also the current President and Coach of our Pop Warner Program. He lives on the coast with his wife Emma and their two boys, Chase and Tristan. We are all incredibly fortunate to have Breen working with our kids on the coastside. A true Cougar!
Week 7: Dave Welch
Dave is an HMBHS alumnus, a local contractor, and his son Daniel (#23) plays WR and DB for the Cougars. Dave loves watching the Cougars at games, and hasn't missed many practices either. He also funded and installed some much needed work on our storage unit. We'll need that kind of support and dedication for this crucial homecoming game.
Week 6: Zeke Smith
Zeke was an offensive lineman, center, for the 1990 Championship Football team and the John Francis Award winner. He was also the Student Body President and in the school play. He is currently an Assistant Superintendent in Oregon, outside Portland, living with his wife Mary and two little girls. He made the trip down for our game vs. Scotts Valley, and he's back to add some tradition and heart to our battle vs. Menlo. Welcome back Scarecrow!
Week 5: The Return of the Legend...Mr. John Carey!
Always loved by students and players, Mr. Carey is an English teacher at HMBHS, as well as the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach. We're excited to have his winning spirt and enthusiasm with us this week as we start our run at the PAL.
Week 4: Rocky Perry - Rocky does just about everything for the Cougars… opens weight room, runs off season study hall (made a huge difference in our team's GPA and just making academics a priority), films scout games and helps coach our lines. A huge help behind the scenes that most people don't even see. Thank you, Rock!
Week 3: Bridget Meyers - Bridget is the proud step mother to three Cougar Football Players; Zack, Carrick and currently, Patrick. Throughout her years of support she has also photographed the weekly games, and generously shared with everyone via shutterfly. Thank you and Congratulations.
Week 2: Crystal Rigley - Mrs. Rigley is on her second year here on Cougar Hill. She teaches History and runs our leadership program. We are really pleased to have her! Thank you and Congratulations.
Week 1: David Jones - Mr. Jones is a math teacher at the high school. He and his son Reece love supporting the Cougars. They've helped this summer with filming practice, equipment, water and just being the 12th man for us. Thank You!
