Loss to Undefeated Dons

The Varsity football team went on the road on Friday afternoon and came away with a 34-14 loss to the undefeated Aragon Dons. The PAL Ocean league loss was the Cougars second in a row and dropped HMB to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in league play. The Cougars got down 7-0 on the Dons opening drive before HMB put together an eleven play drive with Toby Leonardos finishing with an impressive and determined run for a touchdown. The Cougars' next three possessions ended without points and the Cougars found themselves down at halftime 14-7. In the second half the Dons came out and opened the half with a touchdown to make the score 21-7. The Cougars answered with a drive of their own scoring again on another Leonardos touchdown run and the score was 21-14. The Cougars could not get any closer on offense. The defense could not stop the Dons running game and Aragon scored two more touchdowns for a 34-14 win.

The JV football team went to Aragon on Thursday afternoon and came away with an impressive 27-14 win over the Dons. The win improved the JV teams record to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Both teams will have a quick turn around this week and will play on Thursday 10/30. Thursday's games are against a tough and talented Woodside High School team. Thursday's home games are Teacher Appreciation Night. The JV game will begin at 4:00 and the Varsity game kicks off at 7:00. The players and coaches look forward to seeing a full house at John Francis Field to cheer both teams on to a victory. This Week's Community Cougar: Mr. Olson

The Cougars football players and coaches are pleased to announce that this week's Teacher Appreciation Game Community Cougar is Mr. Pat Olson. Mr. Olson is a long time Freshman Studies teacher. His classes are much more than geography. He also teaches drugs and alcohol awareness along with drivers education. Many of our players had him as freshman and many now take his elective broadcasting class.  His classes are informative and entertaining. Mr. Olson is also the voice of USF Dons basketball. He also broadcasts our Cougars athletic events over the internet. Please join the entire football program in congratulating Mr. Pat Olson as this week's Community Cougar.
