Big Victories For Varsity and JV

Friday night John Francis Field was filled with emotion and excitement for all Cougars players, coaches and fans. Both football teams improved their record to 3-1 with big victories over Menlo School. Prior to the varsity game both teams and members of the baseball team took part in a remembrance ceremony that included a moment of silence for Coach Rocky Perry who unfortunately passed away two weeks ago. It was a touching ceremony with Rocky's family on the field.

On the field the Varsity team scored early and often in route to a 47-13 win over the Knights. On the opening series Justin Terra intercepted a shovel pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown. Matt Spigelman scored two touchdowns and Toby Leonardos added another touchdown to give the Cougars a  30-6 halftime lead.

In the second half Spigelman, Leonardos and Pablo Gutierrez scored a touchdown each to complete the scoring.

The JV team also had a big win defeating the Knights by the score of 40-13. The win improved the JV record to 3-1. Chase Hofmann had a big game for the young Cougars rushing for 250 yards and scoring 5 touchdowns. Jake Quosis added another touchdown to complete the route.

Both teams have completed their preseason schedule and after a bye this week will begin PAL Ocean League play in two weeks on the road against San Mateo.

Community Cougar : Julie Baird

This Week's Community Cougar is Julie Baird.  Julie is the football program's communications liaison.  If you have a question about HMB football, she has the answers.  Aside from this job, Julie is an All-Star parent who volunteers for everything a parent can volunteer for. Julie's son, Arron plays for the JV team and her son, Sean, plays for the varsity. The Half Moon Bay High School Football Program would like to thank Julie for everything that she does.

Cougar Pride Always!
