Back & Forth All Night

It was an exciting and unfortunately disappointing football Friday at John Francis Field, as both teams were in action against the Fighting Knights of Hillsdale High School. The varsity team had an opportunity to claim the PAL Ocean Division title with a victory over Hillsdale as both teams came into the game with undefeated league records. The game was back and forth all night and after the second touchdown pass from QB Gavin Tomberlin to Pablo Gutierrez, Hillsdale had a 13-12 lead at halftime. The Knights opened the second half with a touchdown to take a 20-12 lead in the 3rd quarter. The Cougars came right back with 3 more touchdown passes from tomberlin to Gutierrez and had a 34-27 lead in the 4th quarter. With less then 5 minutes left in the game the Knights moved down the field and scored a touchdown and after the extra point the game was tied at 34-34. The Cougars took the ball with under two minutes left and after a sack were forced to punt with under a minute left in the game. Hillsdale was able to move down the field and kicked a 35 yard field goal with 6 seconds left to win the game and the league title, 37-34.
