Great Start to Post Season

It was a foggy football Friday at John Francis Field where the Cougars began post season play with a convincing round 1 win over San Lorenzo Valley. HMB overcame a slow start to earn a 47-34 win and will now move on to round 2 next Friday night. The Cougars scored first on a Chase Hofmann touchdown run but SLV took a 14-6 lead. HMB tied the game on a touchdown pass from Gavin Tomberlin to Pablo Gutierrez. The Cougars then took a commanding lead on the first of two Matt Spigelman touchdowns. SLV fought hard and would not go away but the Cougars kept pounding out yardage and touchdowns on the ground with Anthony DeMartini adding two touchdowns. The Cougars had 3 running backs with over 100 yards.  This is a historic win for HMB.  They are the 3rd team in HMB history to win a CCS playoff game.

The players and coaches would like to thank Emma Hofmann for being this week's Community Cougar.

Please join us in congratulating next week's Community Cougars Jim and Judy Drobnick. The Drobnicks are extremely involved in all facets of the HMBHS athletic programs as the boosters' president. Jim and Judy can be seen at many athletic events working to make sure the events are staffed and organized. They also attend several meetings spreading the word about the boosters and recruiting members and getting people involved in HMBHS. The athletic programs are thankful for all that the Drobnicks do for our teams, coaches and players. Jim and Judy are also involved in the HMB Challenger program giving special needs kids the opportunity to take part in athletics and experience all the positives that sports has to offer. Jim and Judy also have two children who have taken part in HMB athletics. Abbie, who graduated last year, was a three year cheerleader and cross country and track star and now attends UC Berkeley. Morgan is currently a junior and plays baseball and water polo. Please join us in not only congratulating the Drobnicks but also thanking them for all they do for our student athletes.

This Friday the Cougars will take on Carmel High School, the #3 seed at John Francis Field at 7:00pm.  Please come and support the Cougars as they attempt to become the 2nd team in Half Moon Bay history to win a semi-final CCS match up.
