Road Game Win

The varsity football team continued to stay perfect on the 2016 season improving their record to 3-0 with a 32-3 win over Capuchino High on Friday night. The Cougars, who were playing their second road game of the season, were never really challenged by the Mustangs. HMB took an early lead on a long Chase Hofmann touchdown run. HMB added another Hofmann TD and after Gavin Tomberlin's 2 point conversion the Cougars had a 15-0 1st quarter lead. HMB took a 22-0 halftime lead on Jake Quosig's touchdown. Sean Fitzgerald added a field goal for a 25-0 lead after 3 quarters. Hofmann scored his third touchdown of the game to complete the scoring.

The JV team improved their record slightly on Friday with a 34-34 tie. The game went back and forth with each team holding a lead. HMB had a two score lead twice in the game but the defense could not hold the leads. The young Cougars were able to convert 3 Mustang turnovers into scores but found themselves down by 8 with 1:09 left in the game. HMB moved quickly down the field and scored on Ronan Spigelman's second touchdown of the game. After a 2 point conversion the game was tied with 20 seconds left. The defense stopped the Mustangs to end the game. Kolby Dare threw three touchdown passes in the game, two went to Danny Mack and one went to Sean Nugent. The JV record now stands at 0-2-1.

Both teams are home next week to host El Camino High school. The JV game will begin at 4:00 and the varsity game kicks off at 7:00. All of the players and coaches hope to see a packed house at John Francis Field to cheer both teams on to victory.

The entire football program would like to congratulate next week's Community Cougar Becky Ruppel. If you have spent any time in our athletic program or any of our many events and contests then you have seen Becky and her camera. She attends all varsity football games and has taken several wonderful photos throughout the years for all of our HMB athletic teams and contest. She does not just take team photos, she also takes great action photos and generously shares her photos with everyone.
