Cougars tame Mustangs 52-0

Continuing the momentum of an undefeated start to the season, and adding the excitement of the season home opener at the newly renovated John Francis Field, the Half Moon Bay Cougars pitched a shutout win against the Capuchino High School Mustangs 52-0.

Starting the game off with a 9 play drive that ended with a 8 yard TD,the Cougars never let their foot off the gas pedal. Including the opening TD, Chase Hofmann had 4 scores on the day; 3 rushing and 1 on a 30 yard pass completion. Catching those additional touchdown passes was Hayden Von Almen (who had a break away 73 yard touchdown catch) and Dylan Williams. Four Cougars had double-digit rushing yardage, and the offense gained a total of 402 yards on the day.

Even with a strong rushing attack, the Cougar defense held strong and didn’t allow the Mustangs inside their red zone all game. While holding Capuchino to 112 total yards for the game, there were several key plays throughout the game. Dylan Williams had a great interception at the end zone, and Dom Padua jumped on a loose ball to end a Mustangs drive.
