William Moffitt led the Cougars against the Padres on a warm Saturday afternoon that started with much promise. On the game's opening drive, Moffitt had a 32 yard run on an option play to the left and eventually scored from 3 yards out to give the visiting Cougars a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Moffitt had a blocked punt and led all Half Moon Bay runners with 98 yards, averaging over 6 yards per carry and earned Offensive player of the week. The Cougars played tough and trailed only 14-7 at halftime against the defending NorCal champions. Eventually, Serra pulled away and ended up winning 47-7. Satchel Hart had a great week of practice, earning Scout player of the week. Hart contributed 16 yards rushing and had a reception from Moffitt while playing every snap on offense and defense. Julian Jiminez kicked off, made a PAT after Moffitt's score and took over punting duties in the second half and was named Special Teams player of the week. For his all out effort and performance on defense, Sam Lowings was named Defensive player of the week. Lowings also played every snap while starting at right tackle on offense and middle linebacker on defense.

This week the Cougars will travel to Los Gatos on Friday night. The JV kick off at 4:30 and the Varsity Team at 7:00.
