HMB defeats Carlmont 49-35

The Cougars won a tough fought game at John Francis Field on Friday night, beating the Carlmont Scotts 49-35.  The Cougars offense was clicking and scored on all but two possessions on the night.  Leading rusher, PJ Modena, racked up 188 yards on 22 carries and scored 3 touchdowns.  Although the defense gave up 35 points to a well-executed Scotts team, it was on the defensive side of the ball when the Cougars had arguably their most exciting play.  On a first and 15 from the Scotts’ 45 yard line, Gael Segura tackled the Scotts’ ball carrier in the backfield, and as the ball came loose, Ayden Courtney scooped and scored to give the Cougars a 22 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.  Although the Scotts would close the lead to one score in the 4th quarter, the Cougars were able to lean on their offensive line, putting the game away with a drive that resulted in a Peter Valdez touchdown.
